Reclaiming the Wasted Hours

    Job 17: 11 - My days are passing by.  My plans are broken. My dreams are shattered.

     

    What did you do with your failures; wasted hours?

     

    Life Wasting Mindsets

     

  1. We think we have arrived. (Pride)
    1. Proverbs 16:18 - Pride precedes a disaster, and an arrogant attitude precedes a fall.
    2. Proverbs 15:22 - Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many counselors bring success.
      1. Pride is a repellant to God.
      2. Humility is a magnate to God.

     

  2. We are afraid to take risks.
    1. Proverbs 29:25 - Being afraid of people can get you into trouble, but if you trust the Lord, you will be safe.
      1. Don't worry about what other people think.

     

  3. We give up too soon.
    1. Proverbs 15:19 - If you are lazy, you will meet difficulty everywhere…
      1. You are not a failure until you quit!

     

  4. We don't listen to God.
    1. Proverbs 14:12 - Some people think they are doing right, but in the end it leads to death.
      1. It is not your feelings, it is your obedience.

  5. Forgive yourself and focus on the future.
    1. Romans 8:1 - Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
    2. Psalm 103:12 - He has taken our sins away from us as far as the east is from the west.
    3. Isaiah 43:18-19 - But the Lord says "Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago.  Watch for the new thing I am going to do…"
      1. FIDO: Forget It and Drive On

     

  6. Stop playing it safe and cautious (take the risk of following God)
    1. Philippians 2:29-30 - Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, honor men like him, because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me.
    2. Romans 12:1-2 - So then, my brothers and sisters, because of God's great mercy to us… offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to Him… Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind…
    3. Luke 19:26 - For I say unto you, that to every one that has shall be given; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.

     

  7. Get Involved in eternity again.
    1. Mark 8:35 - If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it.  Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live.
    2. Only three things are eternal.
      1. God
      2. God's word
      3. Souls of men.
