The Investment Hours

Participating in the ING Investment Strategy

  1. Owning
    1. Proverbs 18:10-11- The Lord is a strong fortress.  The godly run to Him and are safe.  The rich man thinks of his wealth as an impregnable defense, a high wall of safety.  What a dreamer!
    2. Proverbs 23:4-5 - Be wise enough not to wear yourself out trying to get rich.  Your money can be gone in a flash…

  1. Upgrading
    1. Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 - He who loves money shall never have enough.  The foolishness of thinking that wealth brings happiness!  The more you have, the more you spend, right up to the limits of your income. (and beyond)

  1. Being somebody
    1. Luke 12:15 - Then Jesus said to them. "Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed.  Life is not measured by how much one owns."

Participating in God's Investment Strategy

  1. Swing past materialism
    1. Matthew 6:24 - No one can serve two masters.  Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve both God and money.
    2. 1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is the first step toward all kinds of sin.

  1. Drive Clear of the ownership trap
    1. Psalm 24:1 - The earth belongs to God!  Everything in all the world is His!

  1. Lose Control of your finances
    1. 1 Timothy 6: 17-19 - Tell those rich in this world's wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow.  Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage - to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous.  If they do that, they'll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.
    2. Deuteronomy 14:23 - … The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.

  1. Allow God's "Sweet Spot" to impact your kids
    1. Malachi 3:10 - "…'Test me in this' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.'"
    2. Psalm 145:4 - Parents will tell their children what you have done.  They will retell your mighty acts… They will tell about the amazing things you do, and I will tell how great you are."
