We
are Corrupted by Sin
Rom 5:12 (Therefore as sin
came into the world through one man and death through sin, and
so death spread to all men because all men sinned)
We all are born with a sin nature. We inherit our sin nature
through Adam the original sinner.
Psl 51:5 (Behold, I was
brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive
me.)
Everyone is born with a sin nature. Except Jesus who was born
of a virgin and therefore did not inherit the sin nature of man.
Psl 58:3 (The wicked go
astray from the womb, they err from their birth, speaking lies.)
We are estranged (separated) from God because of our sin nature.
Rom 3:12 (All have turned
aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even
one.)
Even our very best efforts to do good are not enough. It is
never enough, no matter what you do!
Mat 15:19 (For out of the
heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft,
false witness, slander. )
Our heart is corrupted by our sin nature.
2 Cor 5:15-16 (For the
love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that One
has died for all; therefore all have died.
And
He died for all, that those who live might live no longer for
themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.
From
now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view;
even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view,
we regard Him thus no longer. )
We, knowing the forgiveness of God through Jesus, are to share
this with others.
Share what? The we can change! Not by our own efforts, which
is futile. But by excepting the forgiveness offered to us by
Jesus Christ.
What make Jesus so special?
He was born of a virgin, so He did not inherit the sin nature.
He lived a sinless life so He did not need to be redeemed or
forgiven for anything in His life. At God the Fathers desire
Jesus stood in our place and took the punishment for our sins.
So Jesus died for our sins not for anything that He did.
Most importantly of all (to me anyway) is that Jesus is God and
it was He who created us. The creator to the punishment for the
sins of the created.
2 Cor 5:17 (Therefore, if
any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed
away, behold, the new has come.)
We can change! By accepting the forgiveness offered to us by
Jesus Christ, He will make us new again. Born again of the
Spirit this time without a sin nature.
