  1. Face the fact that people let you down.
    1. Isaiah 51:12 - The Lord says, "I am the one who comforts you.  So why should you be afraid of people, who die?  Why should you fear people who die like the grass?"
    2. Galatians 1:10 - Do you think I am trying to make people accept me?  No, God is the One I am trying to please.  Am I trying to please people?  If I still wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

 

  1. Focus on how God sees us.
    1. 1 Samuel 16:7 - But God told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything.  Don't be impressed with his looks and stature.  I've already eliminated him.  God judges persons differently than humans do.  Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart."

 

  1. Focus on the things that unite us, not the things that divide us.
    1. Romans 12:16 - Live in harmony with each other.  Don't try to act important, but enjoy the company of ordinary people.  And don’t think you know it all!
    2. Ephesians 4:3 - You are joined together with peace through the Spirit, so make every effort to continue together in this way.
    3. Acceptance doesn't mean approval.

 

  1. Learn to become an acceptance magnet.
    1. Romans 15:7 - Therefore, accept each other in the same way that Christ accepted you.
    2. John 3:17 - God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.
    3. John 3:17 - God didn't go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was.  He came to help, to put the world right again.
